Sven-Edward Moe - Marine Engineer at Ugland Marine Services

Hey, i'm Sven-Edward Moe and was born 28th of November 1976 in Kristiasand. My initial years growing up happened in Ålefjær in attractive nature surroundings.

Over time residing in Kristiansand, me and our family moved to Trondheim within the northern part of Norway. Whereby my father, Sven Moe, accomplished his engineering degree at NTNU.

My personal education is two fold, so when I was 16 I finished the preparatory course forengineering school in Grimstad, at the University of Agder (formerly known as AID - Agder Engineering School).

Soon after completing this course, I carried on on with a 3-year mechanical engineering course at UiA.

My goal at the time was to make utilize my education to get a job inside the offshore industry, and ideally in the vessel.

Therefore I continued my education with a 1 year course in order to function as first and second engineer when I have achieved enough knowledge at sea. In this year I also achieved the basic safety course as well as the two week long safety course for naval officers.

This is now time to serve my military service, and right after the 2 months at “Madla” in Stavanger, I had been sent to serve my military service as machine engineer in the Norwegian Coast Guard. The vessel I served my duties at was named - KV Agder.

My tasks at KV Agder was daily engine-room watches, and daily routine maintenance.

While I finished my service in the military services I began doing work for Det Søndenfjelds-Norske Dampskipselskap - DSND.

DSND is currently known as Subsea7. Subsea7 was the outcome of the series of mergers between DSND, Halliburton Subsea, Subsea Offshore and Rockwater over an extended period, with Rockwater and SubSea merging in 1999 to form Halliburton Subsea, and the resulting company merging with DSND in 2002 to form Subsea.

Subsea 7 is probably the world`s leading subsea engineering contractors. The company`s global offshore operations are supported out of Asia Pacific, Brazil, Gulf of Mexico, Norway, UK and West Africa. Subsea 7 has above 100 remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), four pipeline construction yards and a fleet of modern, high specification dynamically positioned ships efficient at deep water reeled and flexible pipelay, deepwater subsea construction and saturation diving. Through my years in DSND / Subsea 7 I worked as a machine engineer on many of their vessels, however the vessel I spend the majority of my working hours was at DSND Surveyor.

DSND Surveyor was a Survey/ROV Support Vesseland during my time onboard we were situated outside Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
