Preparing for the Koh Samui Weather


There is something fascinating about Koh Samui. Aside from the natural beauty of its surroundings, the island is also famous because of its the sunshine that is ideal for obtaining a tan and taking a lazy walk across the pristine white sand.

Generally, the Samui weather is sunny and bright and is well suited for swimming and deep sea diving. It's also perfect for a day-long tour and shopping. Many visitors all areas of the world easily adore Koh Samui weather which is one of the reasons why people keep on returning to this lovely island.

Despite being perfect for the beach, sunny Koh Samui weather has its not-so-lovely aspects. The sun can be unforgiving sometimes, especially throughout the summer. The overall guideline would be to always keep your body hydrated. Folks who are utilized to the weather from the tropics are not that susceptible to heat. However, those that are utilized to colder climates should be wary.

An excessive amount of exposure to the sun, particularly at its highest point (10 am to three pm) may cause a sunstroke. If not addressed properly, the individual may suffer from severe dehydration and fatigue. So, whenever there's a scheduled tour, it's advised to take enough water supply, along with some energy drinks to maintain the body's fluid balance.

Also, wearing sun protection is a must for any visitor to the island. While many take advantage of the Samui weather to get a tan, the skin may become dry and patchy when subjected to the sun's rays. Using lotion with SPF or sun protection factor of 15 and above is extremely recommended. The harmful sunrays could cause sunburn, dark spots, and also at its worse, cancer of the skin. Better be safe than sorry.

Along with SPF lotions and drinking plenty of water, wearing protective clothing and gears like sun visor and hat can also be recommended. When at the beach, your body is subjected to greater amount of sunrays since the water surface has a tendency to reflect the rays and cause some glare. To defend your body and also to maintain the body temperature, wearing loose and comfy cotton clothing is suggested, especially during a beach stroll.

As it is located at the tropics, Samui is also vulnerable to rain showers and thunderstorms. During these times, it is advisable to avoid the beach and stay indoors, just to be safe and sound.
