One of the primary reasons your Maine Small Business need a website is to make it easier for your potential and current customers to get a hold of your business. In almost every case that I can think of your customers need to contact you, or your employees, to order your products and services. So don't make it difficult for your customers! Make it as easy and fast as possible for these folks to find your small business contact information.

There are a few things to avoid when planning and laying out your small business website when it comes to presenting your contact information.

First of all, and perhaps most importantly is make the contact information about Maine easy to find. Do not bury your small business phone numbers and email address on some far back page. In fact layout your website so the second someone clicks onto your site they see your main phone number. Place it in the header or at least "above the fold" of your site. By above the fold I mean put the number in a position that can be seen without having to scroll down the page at all. Get the number right in front of their eyes!

The second point is for a small business with several employees or departments. In this case still take point one above to heart and get your main phone line on each page and above the fold. In addition to that take the time to create a more in-depth Contact Us page listing each employee or each department with the specific phone numbers for each. Basically put your employee phone directory online. Do not just give out the main line and make your customers plow through some automated phone number directory. Everyone hates those things.

The third point is to put your hours of operation with each number or department of Mainely. Lets say you answer your main small business phone line from 8am to 6pm. Maybe you have one employee or department that answers their phone at off hours, or earlier or later in the day? Are you out in the field every day from 10-2 and use your cell number during that time? Put it on your website. Make it easier for your customers and vendors to get in touch with you.

With your small business website contact information you have the ability to save yourself, and your customers time. Image if the majority of your potential customers got the person or department that they need on the first try? The less time everyone spends waiting on hold, forward calls, accidentally hanging on up someone or transferring people to the wrong extension the better!
