The Los Angeles Lakers have had some great teams in their franchise history. They've also had some great players that have ever worn a Laker jersey. From the NBA Logo, Jerry West, to Wilt Chamberlain, to Magic Johnson, and all the way till today, Kobe Bryant. But, in this article I like to discuss a debate which was the best Laker team of all time. The two teams that are up for debate are the Showtime Lakers from the 1980s versus the current group of Lakers in 2009. So, let's see how they stack up.

First up, the Showtime Lakers. The starting five consisted of Magic Johnson at point guard, Byron Scott at shooting guard, Kareem Abdul Jabbar at center, Michael Cooper at small forward, and James Worthy at power forward. Their bench throughout the years consisted of worthy veterans and role contributors such as A.C. Green, Mychael Thompson,kurt rambis twolves, Orlando Woolridge, and Jamaal Wilkes.

Next, the 2009 Lakers squad. This team's starting five consisted of Derek Fisher at the point guard, Kobe Bryant at the shooting guard, Andrew Bynum at the center position, Ron Artest at small forward, and Pau Gasol at power forward. Their bench consisted of Lamar Odom, and other worthy role contributors such as Shannon Brown and Luke Walton.
