Fantasy Football Rankings - The Top 10 WRs

The wide receiver is really a position that appears to grow in importance with every season. Many savvy GMs have bypassed the regular RBs in the initial two rounds of these drafts, going with one WR the other QB, as well as two WRs. Today we'll go through the superior 10 fantasy wide receivers commencing this year's season.

10. Brandon Marshall. The Broncos WR reaches an obstacle with all the decrease of quarterback Jay Cutler, but Josh McDaniels should still be effective offensively, and will look at Marshall as his go-to receiver. This can be a riskier play, but the undeniable fact that Marshall has topped 100 receptions in each of his latter seasons gives him a lot of upside to give up. Extra points for Marshall in points per reception leagues.

9. Roddy White. White might easily rank higher than 9 for WRs this coming season, but last year's breakout doesn't have enough consistency to warrant him a better position out there. Matt Ryan continues to boost. The addition of Tony Gonzalez should substantially enhance the Falcons' offense. While Gonzalez may even see some end zone action that White previously saw, try to find the defensive attention Gonzalez extends to create opportunities for White. Search for White to post his third straight 1200+ yard season in the operation.

8. Reggie Wayne. Traditionally one of several safest options at WR, Wayne's numbers were a little off last year when compared with seasons past. A sluggish begin Peyton Manning's part factored into this, and a minor injury plus a growing chemistry between Peyton Manning and Dallas Clark. Last season can be viewed an off year for Wayne, who finished 10th altogether yards with 1145 (in comparison to 1510 the prior year), simply pulled in 6 TDs (in comparison with 10 the prior year). Hence, Wayne slides down from top 4 to #8, but sometimes easily recovery this season.

7. Greg Jennings. What's to never like about 1292 yards and 9 TDs? Jennings was the clear #1 option in the Green Bay offense over Donald Driver, and Aaron Rodgers is a a lot more than capable quarterback. Jennings posted 12 TDs in 2007, and generally seems to find the end zone without difficulty.

6. Steve Smith. Despite missing two games last season, Smith still were able to finish third in the NFL in receiving yards (1421), and his 6 TDs balance out these numbers very nicely. An exceptionally talented running back duo in DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart may keep Smith's TD total down a lttle bit, but at 30 years old, Smith is within his prime and really should be as reliable as anyone else at the wide receiver position.

5. Anquan Boldin. Coming away from a tremendous season in Arizona, there's nothing never to like about Anquan Boldin - when healthy that's. Boldin scored 11 TDs and caught for 1038 yards, all in 12 games. On a per game basis, no-one was better than Boldin with regards to TDs, and his yards per game stood at fourth very best in the NFL. Boldin's only problem is his health. The wide receiver has missed 4 games in each one of the latter seasons. Losing Boldin come playoff time (this happened last year) might be devastating to your fantasy GM.

4. Calvin Johnson. If talent were a factor, he'd be top 3. But Johnson plays for that Lions, that will limit his effectiveness one way or another. Losing Roy Williams on the Cowboys only meant more opportunities for Johnson, who finished with an extraordinary 1331 yards and 12 TDs (tied for your NFL high). Johnson is going to be just 24 years old this year and may adequately improve. Anyone seeking upside may want to set their sights on Johnson. Scary!

3. Andre Johnson. Johnson led the NFL in receiving yards last season, by having an incredible 1575. He appears to improve with every year. His 8 TDs were somewhat low, but anyone inside a PPR league would gladly overlook this, while he led the NFL in receptions with 115. Johnson missed half the 2007 season due to injury, but has otherwise been healthy through his career. When around the field, he's simply one of the better.

2. Randy Moss. Moss could easily carve out his role as #1, though the inconsistency he's displayed in seasons past (2008, 2006) makes him a lttle bit risky. His 2007 performance with Tom Brady has fantasy GMs drooling over his potential, but there's still a bit of risk internal. No one in recent memory continues to be superior to Randy Moss is at 2007. If you feel he'll return to form with Brady last action, you might like to rank him at #1.

1. Larry Fitzgerald. I'm information on reaching for a broad receiver who I am aware I'm able to count on week in and week out. Also to me, that is what Larry Fitzgerald is all about. Fitzgerald had an NFL-high 12 TDs in 2008, Click here and finished second in receiving yards with 1431. He'd an incredible end on the 2008 season, scoring 13 TDs over the end with the regular season along with the playoffs. He's got an excellent attitude concerning the sport, and contains only missed four total games through his five year career.
