You are driving along and all is fine when you hit that 36,000 or 50,000 mile mile marker. A odd feeling comes over you because you just realized you are out of warranty. We all know how it is. A week later you have that ugly yellow check engine light which means a trip to the dealer. They take that light as an open door to find everything that could go wrong with your car and at $150.00 per hour labor cost be happy to fix it.

Truth is a lot of things that check engine light says is wrong are not really defective. They are reading bad because another part has messed up the signal so any related sensor is now reading incorrect. Find the main problem and the others will reset back to normal.

How do I know this. Because I have had too many shops try to do unnecessary auto repairs . Even under extended warranty they try but the warranty company sees through them and sends a rep to verify the repair before approval. When not approved for all the issues they fix what was approved and years later I never had a issue. That tells me someone was trying to get into my pocket or at least that time the warranty company pockets. I hate dishonest people trying to cash in when they could do a fair job and get repeat business. I hold on to my cars for at least 250,000 miles.

With that said I like a place in San Antonio called Global. They do a good job. Not perfect all the time because these cars arevery complicated and replacement parts can fail, but will make it right if needed. They never do more than is required and at a fair price for parts and labor. Never hard sell like you get at some shops. Usually less then the dealer price for parts alone. OEM parts are used and you can BYOP, bring your own parts if you prefer. I did this with an ac fan saving about $300.00 under the price the local wholesale dealer wanted. Sure the warranty is from my seller but I felt OK since the labor was low and worth the slight chance of a defective part being sent. If you need a good repair shop or a place to bring your own parts then follow this link.
